Bionic Commando takes place 10 years later after the 1988 game, with Nathan Spencer as the protagonist. After he is betrayed by his own government and falsely imprisoned, the Great Bionic Purge begins. Just prior to his execution, the city is bombed, unleashing an intense earthquake that has turned the city into rubble and wiped out its population. With the city's air defense grid now in the control of a massive terrorist force whose goal remains unclear, the FSA have only one option left.
